New Amusement Regulation in Florida

Posted By: Scott Andrews Regulatory Updates,

In the spring of 2020, the Florida legislature passed amendments to the Florida law which enables amusement device regulation.  Because of the changes in the law, regulators in Florida were required to make changes to the amusement permitting rules.  Most of these changes were simple and of little concern to permitted zip line sites.  They consisted of changes to forms, fee structures, and changes to the timetable for cancelled inspections.  It is expected that the new rules will go into effect this fall.  Owners of permitted sites are encouraged to review the proposed rules found at: https://www.flrules.org/gateway/View_Notice.asp?id=23398066.  Readers new to the Florida Regulation are encouraged to read the existing regulation (https://www.flrules.org/gateway/ChapterHome.asp?Chapter=5J-18) and the changes side by side because the changes only show areas of the regulation to be changed or removed. You will need to see both the existing unchanged rules and the new rules to fully understand the scope of changes.
