Preparing for the Inspector Certification Exams takes more than memorization, it requires a strong understanding of industry concepts, standards application, inspection processes, and professional judgment developed through training and field experience.

To help support applicants in that process, ACCT offers the Inspector Certification Prep Course.

The Prep Course is intended to expose participants to information related to ACCT Standards, inspection concepts, and certification exam content areas that may not have been fully covered during previous inspector training experiences. While the course is mandatory for new applicants, it is also a valuable resource for experienced inspectors, returning applicants, and anyone planning to pursue certification in the future.

More Than Just a Requirement

One of the most important things to understand about the Prep Course is what it is — and what it is not.

The Prep Course is not designed to teach someone how to become an inspector. The Inspector Certification Program assumes that applicants have already met specific eligibility requirements related to training, experience, and field exposure before applying to test.

The course serves as an educational and preparatory tool intended to:

• Reinforce important concepts and terminology

• Refresh knowledge you may already have learned through training and experience

• Introduce participants to information tied to ACCT Standards and exam categories

• Help applicants better understand the scope and expectations of the certification process

Because Inspector Certification is a professional certification program, exams are based on the knowledge and experience expected at the certification level you are seeking. The Prep Course can help fortify that foundation, but it does not guarantee a passing score on the Inspector Certification Exams.

Who Should Take the Prep Course?

Although the Prep Course is required for new Inspector Certification applicants, it is beneficial for a much wider audience.

Course Access and Timing

Participants will have one month to complete the Prep Course. The course closes on the last day of the month and will not reopen until the next testing event cycle.

For new applicants, successful completion of the Prep Course is required before being permitted to test.

After registration and payment of the $300 USD course fee are received, participants will be invited into the course platform.

A user profile is required to access the course. New users will automatically be guided through the setup process. Existing ACCT Members can also access the platform through single sign-on by logging into their membership platform and selecting the Community Hub link.
