Fritz’s Adventure is now hiring a Facilities, Course & Maintenance Technician for our Branson, Missouri location. Fritz’s Adventure is an experiential adventure park that brings people together through discovery, challenge, and play. Our facility features more than two million cubic feet of attractions, including zip lines, mazes, tunnels, ropes courses, playgrounds, and more.
The Facilities, Course & Maintenance Technician (Competent Person) will help ensure the cleanliness, safety, reliability, and physical upkeep of our indoor and outdoor facilities, grounds, and adventure attractions.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for our guests and team members. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and resolve maintenance and safety concerns.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations & Facility Upkeep
- Conduct daily opening and closing walkthroughs to verify facility readiness and identify maintenance, safety, or cleanliness issues.
- Monitor facility conditions throughout the day and adjust priorities based on operational needs.
- Maintain restrooms, attractions, food and beverage areas, common spaces, administrative offices, and other guest areas to ensure they are clean, stocked, safe, and presentable.
- Assist with deep-cleaning projects and preventative maintenance during non-peak hours.
- Remove debris and maintain clean, safe, and accessible walkways, entrances, and common areas.
- Inspect waste management and recycling areas and maintain appropriate custodial and maintenance supply inventories.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of Fritz’s Adventure.
Facilities & Preventative Maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance on buildings, mechanical systems, infrastructure, and facility equipment.
- Diagnose maintenance issues and complete repairs in a timely and professional manner.
- Replace HVAC filters and perform routine HVAC maintenance.
- Inspect and maintain plumbing systems and perform minor plumbing repairs.
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting
- Maintain lighting systems, fixtures, and controls, including replacing bulbs and components as needed.
- Inspect and maintain roofs, decks, walkways, stairs, handrails, fencing, parking areas, and other property infrastructure.
- Maintain landscaping, exterior grounds, and overall property appearance.
- Perform seasonal maintenance, including winterization, storm preparation, and weather-related repairs.
- Safely operate and maintain maintenance equipment, vehicles, power tools, floor scrubbers, lifts, and other specialized equipment.
Adventure Course & Competent Person Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for facilities, buildings, grounds, and aerial adventure attractions.
- Perform and document required weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual inspections.
- Inspect and maintain aerial adventure equipment, course elements, and related safety systems.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the operational requirements of the course elements being inspected.
- Demonstrate the knowledge, skill, experience, and training necessary to perform responsibilities as a Competent Person with regard to worker safety and fall protection.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable ANSI/ACCT Challenge Course and Canopy/Zip Line Tour Standards, including Chapter 1: Design, Performance, and Inspection Standards.
- Recognize personal limitations and consult qualified professionals or specialists when a repair, inspection, or issue falls outside the scope of the position.
- Remove damaged, defective, or unsafe equipment from service until it has been properly repaired, inspected, or replaced.
- Coordinate specialized repairs with the Facility Compliance Manager and other qualified professionals when necessary.
Repairs & Asset Management
- Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance supplies, replacement parts, PPE, tools, and specialty equipment.
- Monitor the condition and useful life of facility infrastructure, equipment, and assets.
- Recommend capital improvements and replacement schedules for aging or unreliable infrastructure and equipment.
- Partner with Ownership, Operations, and the Facility Compliance Manager to identify maintenance needs, hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
Documentation, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, equipment conditions, and corrective actions.
- Document completed work, issues identified, materials used, and supply needs through daily maintenance reports.
- Ensure maintenance and repair activities follow manufacturer specifications, applicable regulations, company standards, and established safety procedures.
- Assist with internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities by providing accurate maintenance and inspection records.
- Follow all OSHA, fall protection, equipment operation, and company safety requirements.
- Maintain a safe work environment and immediately report hazards or conditions that could affect guests or employees.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of general building maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, equipment specifications, manufacturer instructions, and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to recognize personal limitations and seek assistance from qualified professionals when necessary.
- Ability to work independently while effectively communicating with Operations, Ownership, and other team members.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during peak operating seasons.
Preferred
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance, commercial maintenance, construction, mechanical systems, or a related field.
- Experience working in an aerial adventure park, challenge course, amusement attraction, outdoor recreation facility, or similar environment.
- Experience inspecting and maintaining aerial adventure equipment.
- OSHA safety training.
- CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification.
- Forklift certification.
- Aerial lift/scissor lift certification.
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular physical activity and work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Employees must be able to:
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
- Climb ladders, towers, and elevated structures.
- Work safely at heights while using required fall protection.
- Work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other outdoor conditions.
- Safely operate power tools, maintenance equipment, lifts, and utility vehicles.
- Perform repetitive physical tasks associated with cleaning, maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time, hourly position.
- Nights, weekends, holidays, and peak-season availability are required.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a physically active environment.
- Travel between Fritz’s Adventure locations may be required.
- The position requires working at heights and around adventure attractions, mechanical equipment, power tools, and other maintenance-related hazards while following established safety procedures.
