Edelrid: General safety notice for OHM II, OHMEGA, and FUSE

Technical Bulletins,

To users of EDELRID’s OHM II, OHMEGA, and FUSE products

Background

A screw that had been installed incorrectly was discovered.

On the following products  OHMEGA (73840), OHM II (73829) and FUSE (88256)

EDELRID uses a screw connection to fix textile lanyards; this connection consists of a barrel with an internal thread on one end and a screw with a hex head on the other.

For all products, the barrel is inserted from one direction (1) through two metal flanges and the textile lanyard, and the screw is screwed into the barrel from the opposite direction (2) until the head is flush with the flanges.

In April 2026, an OHMEGA was discovered in a climbing gym where the barrel and screw had been inserted from the same direction, preventing the screw from securing the sleeve against falling out.

EDELRID hereby advises users of the OHM II, OHMEGA, and FUSE products to follow the instructions in the user manuals regarding the proper assembly of the screw connection and to ensure that the sleeve and screw are assembled in opposite directions.
