POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Challenge Course Manager oversees all operations of the Westminster Woods Challenge Course. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the daily Challenge Course operations run smoothly and without issue, including making sure each day is staffed with an adequate number of properly trained personnel. The Challenge Course Manager will ensure that all Course Elements and Gear are properly maintained and thoroughly inspected for safety according to ACCT Standards. It is also the responsibility of the Course Manager to ensure that all staff is adequately trained according to Westminster Woods Course Policy. The Challenge Course Manager will also be the outward facing representative to all guests and organizations who may work with the Westminster Woods Challenge Course.
POSITION TASKS:
- Hire, train, support and supervise the Challenge Course staff.
- Oversee all Inspections, Maintenance, and Building of all Elements and Gear of the Challenge Course.
- Supervise the daily flow of Challenge Course Operations including interfacing with guest coordinators and chaperones.
- Coordinate with Professional Vendor Members for professional inspections, training and purchasing equipment.
- Ensure all Legal Liability insurance policies are upheld.
- Coordinate with the other departments of Westminster Woods. (SP, Ministries, Guest Services)
- Perform “Rescues” when needed.
- Assist with Challenge Course elements as either a Lead or a Technician when needed.
- In collaboration with the Westminster Woods Executive Director, develop the long term strategy for the Challenge Course department. Create steps to ensure that vision is implemented.
- Communicate and coordinate with outside organizations on behalf of the School Programs department.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
The Challenge Course Manager should demonstrate a complete knowledge of the operations of all Challenge Course activities at Westminster Woods.
- Comfortable working at height and have the requisite skill set in order to properly maintain all Challenge Course Elements.
- Must have exemplary communication and interpersonal skills in order to effectively lead a diverse team of highly skilled leaders in potentially challenging or emotionally demanding situations.
- Operate the Challenge Course in accordance with Westminster Woods Course Policy, ACCT Standards, California Law, and Industry Common Practice.
- Guide the vision and direction of the Challenge Course department
- Build and develop the Challenge Course team
- Collaborate with other departments to fulfill the larger mission of Westminster Woods.

TIME COMMITMENT:
Full time, year-round, hourly position. Typically, 30-40 hours per week.
BENEFITS PROVIDED:
- Sick time is accrued at 4 hours per month, (6 days a year).
- Vacation – 6 days a year are accrued in the first year. 12 days in year two. 13 days in year three, 14 days in year four. 15 days in year five.
- 12 paid holidays per year.
- Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits are included. The employee pays 25% of the cost of the insurance. Must work an average of 30 hours a week to qualify.
