Challenge Course Facilitator : Philadelphia Outward Bound

Philadelphia Outward Bound is seeking 3-season (Spring, Summer, Fall) Challenge Course Facilitators to support POBS’ day-long, experiential team-building programs. In this role, facilitators lead groups through thoughtfully designed challenge course experiences at a variety of sites, including POBS’ Wissahickon Valley Challenge Course, The Discovery Center, and offsite locations such as local schools and community organizations. Facilitators are responsible for creating engaging program progressions that incorporate ground games, team initiatives, and high-adventure challenge course elements tailored to each group’s goals and needs.

Challenge Course Facilitators actively facilitate and monitor participant engagement throughout the day, fostering self-confidence, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a physically and emotionally safe environment. Working closely with fellow facilitators and Program Coordinators, they plan, deliver, and debrief programs to ensure meaningful outcomes for participants. Facilitators uphold all Philadelphia Outward Bound policies and procedures, contribute positively to a team-based work environment, and model the principles of Challenge by Choice. This position requires ACCT Level 1 certification (or equivalent experience), prior experience working with youth, comfort leading cooperative games and high ropes elements, the ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, and attendance at mandatory program preparation sessions.
