High 5 Adventure Learning Center - 2-Day Belay Skills and Climbing Structure Training

Our introduction to belaying & climbing structure operations is a two-day hands-on training that introduces the fundamental belay, supervision, and management skills necessary for conducting effective indoor climbing wall and outdoor climbing tower programming. It includes a belay skill verification.

*This training is only for those who have climbing walls or towers*

Participants in the training will:
- Learn pre-use inspection of the element structure, equipment, and the program environment
- Learn the proper use of climbing and personal protective equipment
- Learn to tie a variety of figure 8 family of knots and know when to apply them
- Learn pre-climbing safety checks and belay commands
- Learn effective P-BUS facilitator belay technique using an aperture-style belay plate
- Learn techniques for catching a fall, anchoring a belayer, and properly lowering
- Learn group belay techniques including the Australian belay and TEAM belay
- Learn climbing hold placement, tightening, and basic route setting
- Learn a basic variety of bouldering-style activities to teach movement skills
- Identify potential hazards and risks to climbers, belayers, and staff associated with each element structure
- Review Standard Operating Procedures for Climbing Structures (Walls, Towers, etc.)
- Includes registration, belay verification, training manual, and lunches during the training
