Ropes Course Instructor (Level 2)

Individuals in this 40 hour instructor-level course learn skills that enhance their ability to create innovative programs, solve problems in ropes course environments, prepare for emergency situations, and supervise the daily operations of a ropes course. Specifically, instructor candidates will develop advanced leadership and facilitation skills, practice advanced knots, belaying, and descending techniques, develop problem solving skills, carry out management systems, and learn and practice the Ropes Course Rescue Protocol System. Course content will be covered through a combination of classroom presentations, hands-on practice, and rescue simulations.  The following operating systems are included:
Spotted (Low elements)
Dynamic Belay including Participatory Belay, Climbing Wall, and Climbing Tower
Lanyard (Static Belay)
Instructor Access
The following specialized elements are included:
Aerial Leap
Flying Squirrel
Giant Swing and
Rappelling
Please note that zip lines are NOT covered in this course. Successful completion of the course, practical skills assessment, and written test will lead to certification as a Challenge Course Practitioner Level Two - Full. Adventureworks! Associates, Inc. is a Professional Vendor Member of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) and our training and certification programs have been accredited by the ACCT.

Course Pre-requisites
18 years of age
Previous certification as a Level 1 Challenge Course Practitioner
200 documented hours of adventure program delivery experience as a Level 1 Challenge Course Practitioner
Certification or documented experience with Instructor Access AND all 3 of the core operating systems:
Spotted (Low),
Dynamic,
Lanyard OR  Zip Line OR Rappelling.
An upgrade course is available for people missing 1 or more of these core operating systems.
Willingness and ability to perform all tasks related to ropes course operation including spotting, belaying, climbing on belay, climbing on instructor access to perform set-up / take-down, and performing in-air rescue tasks

You must be 18 years of age by the last day of the course.
Please ensure that you have read and understood the Registration Policies.

Meals and Accommodation
Meals are included. First meal served is lunch on the first day of the course.  Last meal served is lunch on the last day of the course..  
Four nights of accommodation are included beginning on the first day of the course.  Check-out is the last day of course.
For people who need to arrive the night before the course begins, an additional night’s accommodation is available at an extra charge.  Please note that breakfast is not served the next morning.
