Organization Overview

Ministry of Education Labrador Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre is centrally located along Pasir Panjang Road, occupying the former Pasir Panjang Secondary School building. The centre is equipped with a variety of adventure facilities such as a 2-Tier High Challenge Course, Abseiling and Zipline Tower, Rock Climbing Wall and Team-building Stations. Other general facilities include a multi-purpose hall, sheltered training shed, and dormitories for teachers and students. The adventure facilities at LOALC underwent enhancements in 2014.

The High Challenge Course now has two tiers to offer different levels of challenges to participants depending on their ability and readiness. The course is also designed to allow participants to work individually or in teams, as well as decision making in terms of route selection. An artificial caving system was added to the centre in 2015, offering opportunities for problem- solving and decision-making in teams in a safe and well-monitored environment. The caving experiences can be varied to suit the needs of students from different age groups.

Situated within 15 minutes of walking distance from Labrador Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre, are Kent Ridge Park and Labrador Nature Reserve, which are popular sites schools go to during their camp in Labrador Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre. Both parks offer a rich variety of flora and fauna that will delight nature lovers. The biodiversity of the parks offers schools many opportunities for learning outside the classroom. Schools may conduct nature walks, history trails, cycling, bird-watching, orienteering and team-building activities in the parks.
