Organization Overview

Ministry of Education (Singapore) Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre (CCOALC) was conceptualized as acoastal based adventure centre focusing on water/sea activities. CCOALC boasts a capacity of 280 participants housed in 8 “Open Kampung Styled” blocks each with its own activity space.

Adventure facilities at this seafront adventure centre include a fully equipped 2-Tier High Challenge Course, two abseil lanes, a zip-line as well as an outdoor rock-wall that will provide participants with endless learning opportunities through adventure. An indoor rock-wall is also available in case of inclement weather.

The adventure facilities at CCOALC underwent enhancements in 2014. The High Challenge Course now has two tiers to offer different levels of challenges to participants depending on their ability and readiness. The course is also designed to allow participants to work individually or in teams. An artificial caving system was added to the centre in 2015, offering opportunities for problem-solving and decision-making in teams in a safe and well-monitored environment. The caving experiences can be varied to suit the needs of students from different age groups.

Activities at CCOALC are designed around the affordances in the area and place-based in nature. These include marine life exploration, journey and coastal exploration along the beach and outdoor cooking to enrich the student’s learning and experiences.

Situated strategically along the shoreline, sea/water-based activities are unique to the centre. The centre is equipped with over 30 kayaks, doubles and singles, to provide students with adventure activities in the sea. Improvised rafting is also available for team building activities.
