The Company

Site: ArborTrek offers a thrilling tree-based aerial adventure in beautiful Stowe, VT. This gorgeous site includes a top-notch canopy tour, treetop obstacle course, and climbing adventure area. The canopy tour includes 8 ziplines, 2 rappels, and 2 sky-bridges. The treetop obstacle course includes more than 80 unique elements, ranging from easy to extreme. The climbing area offers 14 diverse climbing challenges. The site operates May-October.

The Role

Title: Seasonal Course Manager

Reports to: Operations Manager

The Seasonal Course Manager is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day course operations at ArborTrek Canopy Adventures. This includes course maintenance, inspection, guide training, reservation management, and general upkeep. The Seasonal Course Manager ensures the success of ArborTrek by working closely with the Operations Manager to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for guests. This includes a high level of safety, well-trained team members, and positive engagement between team members and guests.


Summary of Essential Job Functions Include but Not Limited To:

Risk Management:

  • Maintain appropriate level of professionalism and competence as well as adherence to protocols and training standards
  • Can act as Ground Support or Manager on Duty for daily operations and can respond to day-of scheduling matters, any inclement weather decisions, any guest complaints, and staff needs 
  • Can act as Incident Commander in the event of a rescue or emergency
  • Clearly communicates standard operating procedures and local operating procedures guidelines
  • Ensures all course operations are conducted in accordance with ArborTrek operations and OSHA safety standards
  • Coordinates and helps ensures staff is trained to follow Emergency Action Plan
  • Helps manage incident reports, trip reports, and course inspection reports
  • Assist in investigating incidents and implementing operational corrective actions as needed
  • Assists in guide training
  • Helps maintain guide training logs and documentation

Inspections and Maintenance:

  • Helps manage and perform (as required i.e., weekly, monthly, and/or periodic):
    • Course inspections
    • Equipment inspections
  • Helps maintain equipment, including course, devices, and PPE
  • Maintains equipment inventory records as needed
  • Assist with course maintenance planning
  • Manages and performs as needed:
    • Course maintenance and general upkeep
    • Vehicle maintenance and general upkeep
    • Infrastructure maintenance (building, landscape) and general upkeep
  • Communicate all maintenance needs to upper management as needed


  • Performs opening and closing duties
  • Helps maintain a clean and organized site, including the Welcome Center, gear areas, guide break area, and outdoor areas
  • Helps with other roles as needed, including guiding, teambuilding facilitation, front desk, driving, etc.
  • Helps with group bookings and logistics, including teambuilding program design and facilitation
  • Helps with daily flow by communicating, coordinating, and problem-solving
  • Helps with scheduling, including staff scheduling and tour inventory availability
  • Responds to guest needs/complaints efficiently on course
  • Report any staff performance issues or training needs to Operations Manager to be addressed
  • Assists Operations Manager with other tasks or roles as needed


  • 3 years’ experience in adventure tourism
  • 1 year experience in leadership role
  • Risk management experience required 
  • Maintenance experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of all industry equipment 
  • First Aid, CPR and AED certification or better 
  • Computer skills (MS Excel and Word) is essential  
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and works well with a team
  • Dependable, responsible, reliable, and able to take directions as needed

Essential Functions: 

  • Ability to perform various positions and postures necessary to conduct site specific tasks
  • Ability to negotiate various terrain types and/or obstacles in the course
  • Ability to operate/utilize various course-related gear and equipment
  • Ability to manipulate ropes, cables and other related equipment of course-related systems
  • Ability to ascend, traverse and descend at height and relocate various course access equipment
  • This position may require walking and standing for long periods of time while exposed to adverse conditions
  • Possess good corrected or uncorrected vision with the ability to recognize safety hazards in normal and/or emergency environments


Compensation Details

  • Mid or late April to mid-November seasonal employment
  • $20-$24/hr. dependent on experience
  • Seasonal, hourly employee, non-exempt
  • 30-40 hours/week. Must have a flexible schedule with full availability on the weekends and all holidays. Work hours may be variable.
