Positive Adventures Outdoor Educators use the outdoors to inspire health and wellness in youth across California. Our programs focus on learning new skills and expanding individual’s awareness of self and others through Emotional Intelligence education.

Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced freelance Ropes Director available to work seasonally during Fall and Spring months on weekdays in a variety of locations in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA (Santa Cruz - Bay Area). The Ropes Director manages ropes course set up, safety, operation, and tear down on our youth programs that involve these activities. Each student program is generally 3-5 days in length and take place at a variety of camps and properties with ropes courses throughout California. Ropes course activities usually run on 1-2 days during the students' program, amidst other activities that are guided by our Outdoor Educators.

Position Qualifications

  • Current Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Level 2 certification
  • Current First Aid / CPR
  • Ability to pass a background check / live scan
  • Experience working on and managing ropes courses with multiple elements
  • Experience working with children in an outdoor setting
  • Proficiency with ropes course set up and course/equipment inspection
  • Proficiency with belay procedures on Gri Gri+ model
  • Reliable transportation to get to program sites
  • Access to personal safety gear relevant to the job including a climbing helmet certified for ropes course use

Benefits

  • Daily rate of $350 for days that the ropes course is operated with student participants
  • Additional preparation & training time paid if PA or the program site requires an orientation to the ropes course
  • Gas/mileage incentive program to help with travel costs
