HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Flightline Tour Operator Guide ensures a safe, engaging, and educational experience for guests on the Flightline Safari and throughout the Safari Park. The Guide is responsible for operating the zipline safely, conducting gear and ride inspections, assisting guests with equipment, and sharing meaningful stories about wildlife and conservation. In addition to Flightline Safari operations, the Guide is trained to lead Wildlife Safari, Walking Tours, Cart Safari, and Behind-the-Scenes tours. The role involves driving various vehicles in various terrains and habitats to transport guests across the park and requires working at heights and performing physically demanding tasks. This position reports to the Flightline Supervisor.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Operates the Flightline Safari (safety orientation, launch riders, unload/land riders, assist riders in donning harness, transport equipment, drive vehicles on tour paths and through multi-species habitats) while monitoring 2-way radio traffic
- Creates authentic and meaningful connections with guests on a variety of Safari Park premium experiences, by sharing SDZWA stories and wildlife natural history while ensuring all tour and experience requirements are met.
- Complies with and supports all safety protocols including observing and reporting potential safety hazards of the Flightline ride operation and surrounding are, as well as during Wildlife Safari, Walking Tours, Cart Safari & Behind-the-Scenes Safaris
- Assists Safari Park guests with general customer service needs and questions & completes guest check in for tour
- Completes gear/equipment/structure inspections (harnesses, PPE, vehicles, trolleys, towers, cables, etc.)
- Responds and provides support in emergency situations
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Adventurous individuals who are excited to provide great experiences to guests on the Safari Park’s Flightline and other Safaris. Candidates must have the ability to work in a high intensity work environment while following strict timelines. Operate large profile vehicles with passengers; must be comfortable working in different heights and outdoors with extreme weather conditions, ability to monitor sounds and two-way radio traffic; and provide great customer service to guests of all backgrounds and abilities. Prior customer service and adventure sport experience highly desirable for these positions (i.e. - rock climbing, aerial adventure courses, zip lines/flight lines, etc.). Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
JOB EXPERIENCE
- Experience working in customer service required.
- Experience working in a zipline, aerial adventure park or challenge course operation preferred.
- Experience using fall protection or working at heights preferred.
- Experience with public speaking preferred.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma Required
- Valid California Drivers License And Upon Hire required
- CPR and First Aid Certifications within 90 Days required

- Able to learn and abide by safety rules and procedures for the Flightline Safari operation.
- Able to operate the Flightline Safari properly and safely.

- Must have strong communication skills.

- Position Type: Hourly Part-Time Non-Exempt Union Position - If selected, there will be fees and dues to be paid to the union
- Hourly Rate: $29.12
