Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Challenge Course Director to lead our high ropes and low ropes programming.
This role is responsible for the overall safety and operation of our challenge course program, including staff leadership, scheduling, and adherence to ACCT (or equivalent) safety standards.
You will train and mentor staff in facilitation, belay systems, rescue procedures, and experiential education techniques (with the support of our third-party trainers).
This is an ideal role for someone with a background in outdoor education, adventure programming, or climbing who is excited to work with youth in a collaborative camp environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and day-to-day management of the challenge course program
- Train and evaluate staff on safety protocols, belay techniques, and on-site procedures
- Design and facilitate safe, engaging, age-appropriate programming
- Supervise staff and provide ongoing coaching, support, and feedback
- Maintain equipment, site safety, and accurate inspection records
- Manage inventory and communicate supply needs in a timely manner
- Collaborate with the broader program team to support overall camp success
- Lead groups through team-building initiatives, low ropes elements, high ropes challenges, and reflective discussions
- Maintain strict adherence to safety standards and emergency procedures
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive camp culture for both campers and staff
Qualifications
- Challenge/ropes course management certification (ACCT or equivalent), or willingness to obtain
- Rescue certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience facilitating high ropes, low ropes, or challenge course programming
- Ability to pass skills verification, including rescue skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Patient, reliable, and positive team leader
- Must successfully clear FBI and state criminal background checks
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
