Project-Based Installer

JOB SUMMARY:

Installers are the front line for each installation project. As part of a team, these craftsmen are the key component to the completion of a successful project and product. Each hour of hard work translates into an amazing product for many to enjoy for years to come.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Comply with all Bonsai policies & procedures including proper use and maintenance of Bonsai tools, equipment, and vehicles
• Primary equipment and materials manager when working on a small installation team
• Hiking & hauling materials through rough terrain
• Rope access work: ascending, descending, work positioning, tying knots, splicing, & rope care
• Perform carpentry & rigging tasks as needed
• Construction of trails as needed
• If qualified; tree access, pruning, & felling work, as needed
• If qualified; operation of heavy equipment, as needed
• Working in a team of two to four on a daily basis to install zip line/canopy tours, aerial adventure parks, challenge courses and other aerial adventure courses
• Helping to ensure the construction processes are in compliance with Bonsai and industry standards
• Communication with all crew members to facilitate the completion of the project as a whole
• Completing, reporting, and/or documenting various daily tasks to the Foreman’s and Superintendent’s satisfaction
• Following proper safety & radio communication protocol
• Managing and mitigating risk whenever possible
• In the event of an emergency, assisting to enact the Emergency Action Plan
• Completing periodic rescue practice and testing
• Complying with the PPE management system and properly inspecting PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
• Working with project management to regularly update personal ACCT, OSHA, & Bonsai Experience Portfolios
• Other duties as assigned per Bonsai company needs

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• 100% availability for travel and willingness to live and work on project sites for two to four months at a time
• Must be physically able to:
  • Work outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat, extreme cold, and precipitation
  • Work at high elevations
  • Be able to lift up to 70 pounds
• A positive attitude and excellent communication skills
• A professional demeanor with a team-oriented work ethic
• The ability to work independently and maintain a high level of productivity
• A commitment to working at a level that meets or exceeds industry standards
• A willingness or desire to travel for long periods of time throughout the year

• Must be able to provide and to understand written and verbal instructions to/from jobsite staff
• Must have the ability to learn and to quickly become familiar with Bonsai’s design concepts
• Must be able to work/live with coworkers on a daily basis and be respectful of shared housing spaces

PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Experienced with high-angle work and/or rescues; experience on a construction crew
• Experience or training in general repairs including small engine, automotive, tools, etc.
• Experience with tools and hardware of various kinds; experience with trail building
• Familiar with industry standards and common practices
• CPR, AED, and First Aid or higher medical certification
• Certified as a Level 1 or 2 Zip Line Guide
• Previous experience in one of the following areas is recommended:
  • Working as a facilitator, builder, or maintenance on challenge courses and/or zip lines
  • Rock climbing experience
  • Arboreal experience
  • Carpentry, rigging, and/or welding experience

COMPENSATION:

• Installers are paid $18.00 - $26.00 per hour (based on experience)
• Travel to and from the job, meals ($55/day meal per diem) and housing are paid for by Bonsai when employee is away from home
