ACCT Mission Statement

The Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) establishes and promotes the standard of performance and measure of excellence that defines professional practice and effective challenge course programs. ACCT develops, refines, and publishes standards for design, performance, inspection, operation and certification for the challenge course industry; provides accreditation for vendors; public forums for education and professional development; and advocates globally for the challenge course, canopy/zip line tour and aerial adventure/ trekking park community.

ACCT Vision Statement

The Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) is recognized as the leading professional resource for those who create effective challenge course, canopy/zip line tour and aerial adventure/trekking park facilities and programs that serve the public and/or facilitate learning and positive change in individuals, groups, and communities.

Content and Application, and Disclaimer of Liability

A great deal of time and effort have gone into the making of the standards for challenge course, canopy/zip line tours and aerial adventure course designs, performance inspections, operations, and practitioner certification guidelines. These standards and guidelines are intended for use by professionals who have experience in challenge course, canopy/zip line tour and aerial adventure course construction and/or operations. The standards in this document supersede all drafts and information printed or discussed prior to the distribution of this manual.

IMPORTANT: Misuse or improper interpretation of these guidelines may result in a serious injury or fatality. Accidents may occur even if the standards are followed. ACCT does not assume, and denies, responsibility and legal liability for loss or damage to persons who rely on these standards or who use the activities, facilities, equipment or services contemplated by them. In making these standards, ACCT does not intend to create legal duties, for itself or for those who rely on the standards, which would not otherwise exist.
